Honoring Our Veterans We were honored to present quilts on four separate occasions in the last couple of months and have a few more to present in January to finish out the 2025 group of veterans whose names we received over the past year.  On Veteran's Day at the Lumberyard Arts Center, Liz Granberg-Jerome and Robin Bell presented eleven quilts. One family included father and son veterans, plus two grandsons who are active duty military who were unable to attend. Their quilts were sent home with Dad and Grampa.
  Three quilts were presented to veterans living at Vintage Park in Baldwin City, as well as two more at the LAC in December to veterans who were unable to attend on Veteran's Day.   We still have several more to present on a Saturday in January (date to be determined) for those who are working and unable to come during the week. We are happy to work with our veterans to be sure they receive their quilts. Our sincere thanks to each and every one for your service!Our group is already making quilts for next year's recipients! If you know of a veteran who has not yet received a Quilt of Valor or other veteran's honor quilt, please provide their name, branch and years of service, and contact information to Sharon Vesecky at Quilters' Paradise, 785-594-3477. She will be sure to pass the information on to the veteran honor quilt makers!
2026 Winter Classes
Classes through the Quilt Capital of Kansas
New classes for youth from 6th grade through adult are being scheduled for February through May 2026 and will be posted soon. A couple of classes remain from the end of the 2025 schedule and are open for registration on the Quilters' Paradise website. All classes will be held at the Lumberyard Arts Center, unless otherwise noted, as part of the Quilt Capital of Kansas partnership. All classes require advance enrollment through the Quilters' Paradise website or by contacting the shop directly. Classes with no enrollments three (3) days prior to class will be cancelled.
Introduction to Statler Stitching with Sharon VeseckyLimit of 3 per session.Saturday, January 10, 10:30am **at Quilters' Paradise**Thursday, January 29, 10:30am **at Quilters' Paradise** Quilting Basics Series with Liz Granberg-Jerome -- Sign up for the first class to get started. Additional classes will be scheduled by the group on a monthly basis. Part 1, Sunday, January 18 from 1:30-4:30pm -- Overview and simple piecing to get you started on your quilting journey. We will build on your skills with each session.
Quilting/Textile Open Studio
Every Wednesday from 10am to 3pm
Lumberyard Arts Center
Free Open Studio for Textile Arts at the Lumberyard Arts Center from 10am to 3pm on Wednesdays. The studio will be open to anyone wanting to work on quilting/sewing/textile/needlework projects. We've had people spinning fiber, crocheting, embroidering, quilting and more! All welcome! This time offers a great opportunity to finish up UFOs, get answers to questions about patterns, or just come enjoy stitching with friends. Sewing with friends is always more fun!
