Refurbished Sewing MachinesNew at QPQuilters' Paradise has established a partnership with Maxxima in Topeka for the purpose of providing refurbisheed pre-owned sewing machines to our customers at a reasonable price. Most of the machines are old enough that all the parts are metal. The machines have been cleaned, checked out, and adjusted by Charles McFall, who has a passion for these older, beautiful machines. Machines currently in stock:Morse 200 Deluxe sewing machine:  These machines were made in Japan in the 1950s and 1960s. It is a high quality, heavy duty machine, with a beautiful straight stitch.Kenmore 158 sewing machine:  It has all metal gears and parts, with no fragile or expensive electronic components.Coming up: Three opportunities to WIN a FREE refurbished machine! To enter, come to Quilters' Paradise and fill out an entry form with your name and phone number. Lumberyard Arts Center
Free Open Studio for Textile Arts at the Lumberyard Arts Center from 10am to 3pm on Wednesdays. The studio will be open to anyone wanting to work on quilting/sewing/textile/needlework projects. We've had people spinning fiber, crocheting, embroidering, quilting and more! All welcome! This time offers a great opportunity to finish up UFOs, get answers to questions about patterns, or just come enjoy stitching with friends. Sewing with friends is always more fun!

24th Annual Kaw Valley Farm Tour On this 20th anniversary of the Kaw Valley Farm Tour, 39 farms will be included in the weekend long tour to be held Saturday, October 5 from 9am to 6pm and Sunday, October 6 from 10am to 5pm. Tickets are required--get them at this link! Our own Sharon & John Vesecky are on the tour again this year. Vesecky Family Farms features a late 1800s house and barn. They raise pasture-raised chickens, ducks, turkeys, cattle, meat goats, hay, and crops.
Holiday Turkey Orders Now Welcome We are accepting orders for Thanksgiving and Christmas turkeys, both heritage and white broad-breasted pasture-raised birds. They will be ready to pick up at the farm (1814 N 600 Rd, Baldwin City) the weekend before Thanksgiving. Please e-mail or call 785-594-2493 to reserve your turkey. This year we will have "turkey parts" again. They must be ordered by November 12 to be sure that they are available. We plan to have only enough cut up to fill the orders.
Maple Leaf Festival & Quilt Show
Saturday & Sunday, October 19 & 20, 2024
Quilt registrations are open for the 52nd annual Maple Leaf Festival Quilt Show that runs as part of the Maple Leaf Festival on the 3rd full weekend of October. Be sure to stop by the Intermediate Center to view the quilts before catching the busses to downtown. We expect a wonderful display of 100+ quilts made by Kansas quilters. The Maple Leaf Quilt Guild will be selling "car quilts" as a fundraiser. Also, get your ticket for a chance to win this year's guild opportunity quilt, "Autumn Leaves", made by guild members Leslie Jerome & Liz Granberg-Jerome. The winning ticket will be drawn at the quilt show on Sunday afternoon just before closing.
To enter a quilt, download a registration form available on the Festival Quilt Show webpage and turn in to Quilt Show Coordinator Andrea Newton (contact info on the form) or drop at Quilters' Paradise no later than September 30.

Eight Quilt Shops in NE Kansas are hosting a holiday hop! Grab a passport at your first shop & get it stamped at each subsequent shop. If you go to ALL 8 shops and turn in your completed passport, you are entered for prizes, the grand prize being a $50 gift certificate to EACH shop! Coordinating fabric bundles will be available for purchase at each shop. This is a great way to learn about your local quilt shops, meet some amazing people & maybe win some prizes!
