Our monthly 4th Saturday 25% Off Sales continue, this month on Saturday, June 26. Nearly everything in the shop is 25% off! There are new fabrics, patterns, and notions to see, plus wide backings for your "safe at home" pandemic quilt projects, and so much more! Be sure to stop by to save!

In-Person Classes!

At long last we are returning to in-person classes at Quilters' Paradise. We are pleased to announce we are celebrating the new partnership of Quilters' Paradise and the Lumberyard Arts Center whereby we will be able to hold larger classes in the LAC studio/classroom! Be sure to check each class to confirm location as some smaller classes will still be held at Quilters' Paradise. Full information for each of these classes is available on the Quilters' Paradise website under Classes. Just follow the link for the class to enroll online.

Beginning Quilting--Making the Blocks with Liz Granberg-Jerome
First & Third Tuesdays as follows: July 7 & 21, Aug 4 & 18, Sep 1 & 15, all from 12pm to 4pm
Class fee: $120 for the entire series of six classes
Location: Lumberyard Arts Center Studio/Classroom
Learn quilting basics with teacher Liz Granberg-Jerome. This series of six classes will guide you through piecing multiple units that will launch you into creating your own quilts and reading patterns with ease.

Introduction to Longarm Quilting with Sharon Vesecky
July 13 from 10am to 1pm
Class fee: $25
Location: Quilters' Paradise
This informational lecture/demonstration class is great for true beginning longarm quilters or anyone considering purchasing a longarm quilting machine.

Jelly-Roll Rug with Laura Davids
July 14 from 1pm to 4pm
Class fee: $45
Location: Quilters' Paradise (if additional space is needed, may be moved to Lumberyard Arts Center)

Create this great Happy Bag with Sharon as she guides you through the steps for this fun project!

Pacific Rim Two-Fabric Applique with Sharon Vesecky
Aug 3 & 10 from 10am to 4pm
Class fee: $45
Location: Quilters' Paradise
Choose a Pacific Rim 2-Fabric applique quilt patterns to make with Sharon guiding you through the process. Learn how to trace and cut these designs in such a way that you get two quilts from one top!

Introduction to Hand Quilting with Sharon Vesecky
Aug 17 from 10am to 12noon
Class fee: $20
Location: Quilters' Paradise
Learn the technique of hand quilting, considering needles, thread and batting choices, and more.

Beginning Quilting 2--Assembling the Top with Liz Granberg-Jerome
October 20 from 10am to 4pm
Class fee: $45
Location: Lumberyard Arts Center
Assembling blocks into a completed top is a whole process of its own. This class will guide you through assembling your blocks into a quilt top with or without sashing & cornerstones, borders, and more.

One Block Wonder Art Quilt with Liz Granberg-Jerome
November 3 & 17 from 10am to 4pm
Class fee: $75
Location: Lumberyard Arts Center
One Block Wonder quilts look complicated, but are actually quite easy to make and each one is completely unique! Six repeats of one fabric are cut into strips and then sets of 60 degree triangles. Despite being a quilt full of hexagons, the assembly has NO Y-seams!

2021 Douglas County Free Fair
July 24-31, including pre-fair events beginning July 17

See it all at the Douglas County Free Fair where everyone comes for good old-fashioned fun!
It’s a great event for all ages in Lawrence, Kansas.

Open Class exhibits: Entries to be brought to the Douglas County Fairgrounds Building 21 on Sunday, July 25 from 2pm to 5pm with no advance notice.

If you wish to enter your items online and avoid the extra time for in-person entry tag sign-up, a new Douglas County Free Fair online registration site can be used for a $4.00 online convenience fee per item.
Deadline for online registration is July 20, 2021. Quilts still need to be delivered to the fairgrounds Sunday, July 25 between 2pm & 5pm

The 2021 Fair Book is now available online. The breakdown of categories for the quilts division can be found on pages 86-88.

The Open Class exhibits will be judged Monday morning at 8:00am
with hanging of the quilts immediately following.
Volunteers always welcome to assist in hanging the quilts.

Open Class exhibits are open Tuesday, July 27 from 3pm to 9pm
and will remain open Wednesday through Saturday, July 28-31 from 10am to 9pm

All exhibits will be released Sunday, August 1 between 8am and 10am

Baldwin City Community Quilting Bee
The community quilting project is ongoing with more opportunities to add a few or more than a few hand quilting stitches to this beautiful quilt at the Third Friday Artwalk events. Currently scheduled is July 16 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at Sullivan Square. If the weather is too warm, the quilt will be moved inside the Lumberyard Arts Center where you can stitch in the cool. All experience levels welcome!

It's Michigan Blueberry Time Again!

Each year Quilters' Paradise orders 10 lb. boxes of freshly picked blueberries from Michigan.
Cost is $40 per 10 lb box.
Pre-order by July 11 by calling Sharon at 785-594-3477.
Blueberries will be delivered and ready to pick at the shop by July 23.
