Learn quilting basics with teacher Liz Granberg-Jerome. Basics Part 1, the first of four classes offered on first Wednesdays, will guide you through rotary cutting and stitching an accurate 1/4" seam. Three blocks with straight piecing and triangle units will give you an opportunity to put your new skills to use. Liz will share loads of tips to make your quilting experience fun. Triangle in a Square, also known as a Tri-Rec or Spikey & Peak, is most known for its use in the 54-40 or Fight block. When this block is used in a two-block layout with, for example, a snowball block or Churn Dash that has triangles in the corners, it can create the illusion of curves without any curves being sewn in the quilt.
