Dresden Heart with Liz Granberg-Jerome

Create a delightful Dresden Heart that can be appliqued onto a background and incorporated into a wall-hanging, pillow cover, or table topper, or several can be added as blocks in a quilt. This asymmetrical heart is made with blades similar to a Dresden Plate, but with individual foundation templates for each blade. Let Liz guide you in creating this fun project with lots of tips & tricks to make it go together easily. Download the free pattern at http://quiltingupacreek.com/freepatterns/dresdenheart.pdf and have two copies ready for class. If possible print one in reverse to have two sets of blades--one set for the right and one set for the left side of the heart.
Wednesday, October 15 from 1:00 to 4:00 at the Lumberyard Arts Center
Supply list:
One solid or tone-on-tone fat quarter for background
Assorted red/pink (or color of choice) scraps (smallest ~4x6")
One ~5x5" square for center heart (color of choice)
Tear-away or Wash-away stabilizer, two (2) 8.5x11" sheets or equivalent
Add-a-Quarter ruler
Glue Stick
White glue, my favorite is Roxanne's Glue-Baste-It in the squeezy bottle with the syringe tip
Sewing machine with 1/4" foot or guide and open-toe foot for zigzag (with manual, power cord, assorted feet)
Neutral thread
Basic sewing notions--pins, seam ripper, etc.
Extension Cord/Power Strip

Rotary cutter & mat
Several of these Dresden Heart blocks were snowballed and combined with 54-40 or Fight blocks in this two-block quilt layout that has the illusion of curves, but has none.
This class is co-sponsored by the Lumberyard Arts Center and Quilters' Paradise as part of the Quilt Capital of Kansas programming.
