Beyond OBW: Cubes & Stars!

This one-day technique class will focus on creating 3D cubes and stars to add to your One Block Wonder quilts for a whole new look! OBWs are actually quite easy to make and each one is completely unique. Adding triangles around a hexie creates a star or adding pieced triangles in three values of a color to create 3D cubes can add character and enhance your overall design. This class will focus on creating cubes and/or stars to be added to an existing OBW in progress. Adding triangles around a hexie to create a star or adding pieced triangles in three values of a color to create 3D cubes can add character and enhance your overall design. Tumbling into Spring is an example of adding cubes in various colors pulled from the original print.
Sunday, November 16 from 10am to 3pm at the Lumberyard Arts Center.
From your OBW fabric, select 3-4 different colors to focus on and find 3 values of of each of those colors to use to make your cubes. These can be solids or tone-on-tones, but need to be distinct light, medium and dark to have the right effect. Be sure to bring your OBW fabric or OBW in progress, along with some extra pieces of your OBW fabric to incorporate into a few hollow cubes as well.
